The structural system is high-versatility and high-performance for extending the height of a usable area. Unlike systems for lofts on palletisation or manual loads, the walkway floor is not held up by shelves, but rather by a building design similar to that used in construction: girders resting on bearing walls to form a horizontal support system resting on vertical pillars that determine the height of the floor and direct the load to the ground.
On the one hand, this design is possible thanks to the elevation of more than one floor and the adaptation of the perimeter according to the surface format of the enclosure; and, on the other, thanks to the fact that the parts can be dimensioned according to the load requirements and capacity of each project. This provides very notable building potential and a high degree of specialisation for each solution to adapt to the most specific requirements and the widest variety of uses.
The exposed perimeter of the walkway platforms is protected by safety handrails and connected by access stairways designed for the planned use. The safety handrails can also be fitted with gates for goods and material services by forklifts or other indoor transport machinery.
The construction system is modular and configurable; the parts are coupled together by inserts and screws, making it easy to disassemble the entire installation. Furthermore, no stress needs to be relieved by fastening it to any structural part of the building since it is completely autonomous and independent.
Owing to the many options for adaptation in terms of resistance and capacity, the specific dimensioning enables the installation of different types of rooms, such as offices, showrooms, storerooms, workshops, changing rooms, dining halls and multi-purpose rooms, etc. Given its sober construction, it enables the installation of all kinds of elements for creating compartments and adapting the spaces as if it were a conventional building.
Shelves can also be installed for picking as long as supports for floors are installed to ensure the even transmission of the load to the structure. Furthermore, if the floor is suitably prepared, maintenance equipment can be used in the area for palletised goods.
Finally, the surface can also be given a more generic use, e.g. to position objects or goods whose sizes or specifications make prevent other kinds of storage, such as materials in bulk or in different types of containers and different-sized items, etc.
As far as legislation is concerned, the building specifications make it "movable property”, taking it beyond the scope of regulations applicable to common buildings regarding the need for applying for works licences, calculating built-up usable square metres and the corresponding taxes, etc.
Its multi-purpose nature and wide variety of design options make it suitable for almost any use. The investment is proportionate and there are none of the legal or administrative obligations that apply to other types of constructions.
As it is a weld-free modular composition, it is fully reconfigurable and can be adapted to new designs for requirements as they arise. The surface area and height are also easily extended if the parts are correctly dimensioned.
It is a highly effective design and widely tried and tested; each project is calculated according to reference standards, taking into account the specific building particulars of each configuration.
